Arkhe Object
| Arkhe Object is a Brooklyn-based design studio by artist Sarah Wright, creating illuminated ceramic sculptures. Each piece begins with a moment of surrender where clay is released to gravity, finding its form through the act of letting go. This foundation of happenstance gives every creation its distinctive character and organic presence. Drawing from 20 years in fashion design and concept development, Wright handcrafts all ceramic pieces herself, incorporating materials gathered from global travels: volcanic ash from Iceland, sea glass from Mediterranean shores, alongside elements discovered in New York City's urban landscape. She works with Hudson, NY based Taylor Forrest Studios to fabricate and weld the backing components, transforming these diverse materials into one-of-a-kind objects. Unlit, the pieces stand as sculptures; illuminated, they float off the wall, inviting light and shadow to become active participants in the spaces they inhabit. |
